Bootblacks is a Brooklyn-based post-punk band that was formed in 2010. The current lineup of the band consists of Panther Almqvist on vocals, Barrett Hiatt on synth, and Kalle Fagerberg on guitar.
Bootblacks' sound is characterized by its brooding and atmospheric melodies, driving rhythms, and Almqvist's emotive vocals. The band draws inspiration from the post-punk and darkwave movements of the 1980s, but also incorporates contemporary elements of electronic music into their sound.
Since their formation, Bootblacks have released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Veins" (2016), "Fragments" (2018), and "Thin Skies" (2020). The band has also toured extensively throughout North America and Europe, performing at renowned venues and festivals.
With the addition of Fagerberg, Bootblacks are looking to explore new sonic territories and expand their already formidable musical horizons. Fans can look forward to more exciting music and performances from the band in the years to come.
The brainchild of musician Laura Pleasants, The Discussion was founded to mark the start of a new creative chapter following a 15-year stint with seminal heavy band Kylesa. Wanting to reconnect with her post-punk and alt-rock roots while refining her songwriting, Laura set to work, refining the concept through some solo experimentation before releasing her debut EP and securing her first European tour shortly after. Following another couple years of marination during which she released a 7” and played a handful of shows, Laura decided to go all in on The Discussion, joining forces with Jason Corbett from ACTORS in 2023 and recording her first full-length album shortly after. Building on the groundwork laid by the legends of first-wave post-punk, dark romantic new wave and goth with a distinctly modern approach that nods to the wider canons of shoegaze and death rock, The Discussion has rapidly hooked a diverse and growing fanbase with its genre-bending, decidedly dark sonic identity and lyrical content. With momentum at an all-time high, Laura is now preparing to take The Discussion to a whole new level during the months to come and expand her audience wider than ever before. A series of local and regional performances and a waterfall of new singles are already on the horizon, setting the stage for a robust touring schedule in 2025.
